As a documentary image maker, I focus on opening up conversations about societal and internalized taboos surrounding sexuality in my work. Drawing from my own experiences, I shed light on themes such as the female orgasm, vaginismus, and (a)sexual relationships. With an open and introspective approach, I aim to foster dialogue and understanding around these often unspoken topics.
One of my most personal projects, Do You Eat When You're Not Hungry?, is a visual exploration of the asexual spectrum, in which I identify as demisexual. This work combines metaphors, text, self-portraits, still lifes, and conversations with others within the spectrum. The project delves into the complexity of asexuality, offering an intimate perspective on feelings of loneliness, insecurity, freedom, and self-acceptance that can come with it.
Through my visual work, I navigate between personal reflection and societal issues, not only seeking answers for myself but also inviting a broader audience to embrace the diversity of sexuality.
